During the recent US NI Investment Conference a number of like minded businessmen and entrepreneurs laid the groundwork for the establishment of a unique new initiative in Belfast.

Based at the  Midtown Center in the Cathedral Quarter, The Presidents' Club aims to assist in 'creating an Ireland whose people are reconciled and enjoy a unity of purpose- to see the island recognised for its young, well educated, creative and determined people; and a society known to value all and care for its neighbour'.

A private members' club open to those who wish to join our crusade to enhance the island of Ireland through the development of collaborative networks among business, academia, government etc. in Ireland, the UK and in the United States of America.

For more information check out www.the-presidents-club.com

Tangible Ireland is proud to assist this great endeavour as it meshes well with our stated aims.

After the Dust Settles

In Belfast recently we have had a flurry of promotional activity to encourage economic development particularly the recent US NI Investment Conference which held a series of events at famous venues in Belfast: Stormont, Transport Museum and Belfast Castle.

Bloomberg, O'Reilly, Brown, Cowen etc coupled with Comptrollers from New York City and State etc. all waxed lyrical about the virtues of investment and economic regeneration in Belfast and the wider area.

Friendships were made, points were made. Sir Tony O'Reilly took his unique opportunity to advocate a revised taxation status for Northern Ireland. It seemed to fall on deaf ears if the reaction of Gordon Brown was to be taken as a reflection of the potential for change.

At Tangible Ireland we believe the answers already exist for dynamic growth in the economy if both parts of the island work collaboratively. Accessing both jurisdictions in a legitimate way has a lot of potential.

More research is required into the Tangible Dual Location Tax Investment Strategy.

We are evaluating locations to initiate Pilot Projects to prove that economic growth is possible within the current regulatory climate.

We have been working tirelessly since 2001 to prove our concepts and we know it is a marathon and not a sprint! Tangible Success does not always go to the swift!

 It's a Marathon not a Sprint!

Belfast a Great Success

The Messenger Tour came to a finale in Belfast on Saturday night after a wonderful performance in St.Anne's Cathedral. Catherine Leonard et al performed at the highest level of musicianship as we have come to expect from Camerata Pacifica. The performance was attended by Minister Edwin Poots MLA and Henry Mitchell from the British -Irish Joint Secretariat along witha wide variety of guests of Tangible Ireland and the IPS Group.

A VIP Reception was held across the road in the soon to be formally opened The Presidents' Club. David Hetherington and Ann Marie Monahan from the IPS Group were the key players is making this fabulous reception happen in Belfast.

Mark Finlay of Barnabas Ventures also received a special award from Camerata Pacifica for his input into the Belfast leg of the Messenger Tour.

A great night was had by all and the consensus was that the tour had proven to be a great 'medium of engagement'.

Messenger from the West

The Messenger Tour got off to a great start with a Cocktail Reception at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown LA before 200 VIP guests were shuttled to the magnificent Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels a number of city blocks away.

Playing in front of an audience of over 2000 Artistic Director Adrian Spence and his team from Camerata Pacifica had us enthralled with the purity and passion of their sound with the pinnacle being the Messenger Concerto perfromed by Catherine Leonard, Ireland's leading Violinist. To celebrate the great start to the 6 venue tour including the US, UK and Ireland we then attended a VIP Gala Dinner back at the Biltmore Hotel.

Edwin Poots ,the Minister of  Arts and Culture in Northern Ireland was the Keynote Speaker and as a sponsor Raymond  Sexton represented Tangible Ireland with a few words.

Raymond's comment that if your Heart is going North but your Chequebook is going South you need to contact Tangible Ireland raised quite a laugh with a profound silence descending on the audience as he commented that Engineers Ireland are considering the challenges of Engineering an Island of 8 Million People. Ireland has not had 8 million people since before the Famine! He definitely struck a chord with Irish America!

He then invited them to part take in a very exciting island economy, to enjoy Ireland's complexity, Ireland's capability and Ireland's diversity. Invest in the North., the South or a bit of both.

He finished by needling Adrian by saying that business was as exciting ' a medium of engagement' as classical music though, maybe from a different genre or should we say milieu!
